Aliyah's party fell on her actual birthday this year... one of my favorite days of the year! Here are a few highlights of the day:
We filled our living room with balloons before going to bed. In the morning, Aliyah loved running in circles and kicking as many balloons as she could into the air. Everly watched her every move laughing and clapping sharing the excitement.
Plastic tablecloths made for cheap and colorful decorations
My mom made some awesome pennants and I put together a few pictures from each year so far... birth, one, two and THREE
I found an old changing table on craigslist to use as a drink station - LOVED IT!! We will be keeping this tucked in a safe spot in the garage to pull out for future parties. It gave us some extra table/counter space and looked nice too! Drink choices: strawberry lemonade, water or strawberry milk
To keep the kids busy I had a few things set-up around the house. Some of these activities included Strawberry Shortcake coloring pages, strawberry Cheerio bracelets, bubbles to play with and take home along with strawberry scented playdoh.
I had the girls make hand-print strawberries a few days before the party. There was already so much going on, we didn't get out the stamp pad on her birthday, although, I thought they were so cute and wanted to share.
Lots and lots of strawberry eats! We let Goodscents cater and had fun with the sides, snacks and desserts.I found a strawberry box to hold the chips (I was super excited about that). Tyler's mom made two types of pasta salad and we found strawberry applesauce.
Tyler made a strawberry layer cake. We also made a few strawberry jam and peanut butter sandwiches for the little ones.
Tyler and I worked together to make strawberry sugar cookies. My mom brought a fruit/veggie tray with the coordinating colors - grapes, strawberries & cucumbers (Everly's favorite).
And finally I filled strawberry baskets full of all sorts of strawberry flavored snacks. I think these were the kids' favorites! Strawberry candies, marshmallows, frosted mini wheats, cheerios and Oreos (YES!! strawberry Oreos)
Since her party, Aliyah has asked if she is three years old over 4 dozen times. Sometimes she will stop mid play and simply state to whoever is listening that she is three now.
I continue to feel that I am on an emotional roller coaster. Consumed by joy... celebrating another year of her precious life. Yet, overwhelmed at how time seems to move so quickly by. But even with the tug of rope game I play with myself, I always find that I root for you to keep on going forward and growing up! Each year with you seems to set the bar for the next. We love you and you more than you will ever know.
