Tiny Dancer

I helped her pull her arms through the little holes in her leotard with a little lump in my throat. The moment felt important.
Aliyah's first ballet class.
Her YaYa and Bopper gave her dance classes for her 3rd birthday - She was so excited and couldn't wait until the beginning of June to meet her new teacher, friends and show off some fancy dance moves.
She has always loved dressing up in tights, leotards, and tiny leg warmers so we didn't need to get much for her first class. The ballet shoes that I had picked up at a garage sale a while back seemed a bit tight, but she never complained and I was able to find a bigger pair for her the next week.

Her session ran through the summer and when her last class arrived in August, Tyler took off the morning from work so that he could come see her "watch day" too - they only allow parents to get a peek at the end of a session. Aliyah had an amazing cheering section: Everly watched patiently clapping, her grammy and even her Uncle Russell came to watch those sweet tippy toes.
Our tiny pink tutu-ed ballerina tip toed around class, glowing. She beamed with every step looking over her shoulder to make sure we saw her awesome moves.
Her very first dance class was a success! It has been so fun seeing her enjoy dance and learn amazing things along the way. She can demonstrate (and pretty well, I might add) a plie, arabesque and passe!
Tyler and I decided to enroll her again this fall and we are so excited for our next "watch day" - If ever there was a reason to blog - to capture all the little moments - it’s the constant reminder that this stage - my tiny dancer - will be gone before I’m even done soaking her in.
